Welcome to First Year Learning Communities
Course clusters offer new students a kind of academic map. Each course in a cluster is enhanced by being taken in conjunction with the other courses in that cluster. Most courses included in the clusters are 100 and 200 level and fulfill CORE (General Education) requirements. Only 20-25 seats are available in each cluster and space is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Many clusters contain a "home" course, which integrates material from the other classes. Others courses in a cluster regularly offer sections in which seats have been set aside for cluster participants so that they can become accustomed to the University with familiar classmates.
To register for a cluster, simply register for the cluster number that puts you in all the cluster courses. There is no need to register for the courses individually.
